Procedures
Once you have a design, these procedures outline our production process. Designs can be submitted to us be e-mail, web form, or via regular mail.
Gold Jewelry
- When we receive detailed descriptions of a project we will be able to put together a quote with the estimated price of the prototype. This price is not the final price for the production of your jewelry as it is based on estimated values. Generally unit prices will remain fairly accurate as they are given at production rates. Prototyping costs are listed as an additional expense which includes development related costs like resins, masters, and molds applicable only to the first piece of a given style. A typical prototyping fee will range from 100 to 300 dollars.
- We will collect payment for the prototype and begin production.
- When the prototype is completed, we will evaluate any discrepancies from projected unit quantities (grams of gold, carats of gemstones, etc…). Where differences exist, customers will either be billed or refunded the discrepancy at the rates provided in the initial invoice.
- We will send the prototype to you via express mail service so that you may examine our workmanship and make changes to the design. Certain changes may incur additional fees depending on the amount of work required to apply the changes. Once you are satisfied with a final prototype model, we can provide you with an exact quote for the final project. Please note that our quotes and invoices are time sensitive as they are based around a certain market price for gold. Because gold prices fluctuate all the time, you can expect that the price of your piece will fluctuate over time as well.
- Work out payment terms and finalize manufacturing agreements.
- Begin production of the final order.
Silver & Brass Jewelry
- When we receive detailed descriptions of a project we will be able to put together a generalized quote with the estimated price of the prototype. This price is not the final price for the production of your jewelry. It includes research costs and molds which constitute a significant part of the prototypes' price. The amount of discount between prototypes and finished goods can vary widely based on the design. Some types of jewelry don't require molds to be made, and thus have small development fees. For these, the prototype will be close in cost to the final product.
- We will collect payment for the prototype and begin production.
- We will send the prototype to you via express mail service so that you may examine our workmanship and make changes to the design. Certain changes may incur additional fees depending on the amount of work required to apply the changes. Once you are satisfied with a final prototype model, we can provide you with an exact quote for the final project. Please note that our quotes and invoices are time sensitive as they are based around a certain market price for metals. Metal prices tend to fluctuate slightly over time, so you may expect some slight fluctuation in the price of your piece over time as well.
- Work out payment terms and finalize manufacturing agreements.
- Begin production of the final order.
Production Timeframes::
- Design Stage (If Applicable): Usually less then two weeks unless many designs are involved.
- Prototyping Stage: This is the longest and most difficult stage of development. Typically it will take between 2 and 6 weeks to come out with the first prototype. With most designs we are able to produce an initial prototype within 3 weeks. If changes must be made at this point another 1 to 3 weeks may be necessary.
- Production: Most productions of fewer than 1000 pieces can be completed within a 4-6 week period. Actual timeframes for your project will be evaluated during the prototyping stage.
